Description(s):Abstract: The current focus of the reanalysis verification using microwave satellite data is on the summer months June, July, and August of 2011. For this period, a 6 km-resolution reanalysis, a 6 km reanalysis including Latent Heat Nudging (LHN), a 2 km reanalysis including LHN, both with an LHN coefficient of 0.25, and a downscaling product are available and can be compared concerning the effect of the resolution on the representation of convective and frontal systems. All products are based on the COSMO model but differ in the details. The 6 km-resolution products cover the CORDEX Europe domain and include cloud water, cloud ice, rain, and snow whereas the 2 km-resolution product covers the COSMO-DE domain and additionally includes graupel.
