Title(s):Main Title: An evaluation of the Time Domain Transmission sensors
Description(s):Abstract: To monitor soil water content (SWC) and its spatial and temporal change over a mesoscale area by in-situ measurements a multitude of SWC sensors are needed. Then the cost for each sensor should be minimized, and the technique should be robust and operate with low energy consumption. The aim of this report is to evaluate a low-cost time domain transmission (TDT) SWC sensor using standardized laboratory experiments. The results showed that the TDT sensors accurately determine the relationship between the sensor response and the permittivity. In addition, the sensors showed only minor variation in sensor response due to temperature changes.
