Title:Main Title: Objective Error Quantification for Polarimetric Based Precipitation Estimates using X-Band Radar
Description:Abstract: Based on the empirical error procedure introduced in the previous report, this report will focus on the difficulties regarding bias and variability issues in the radar data from Bonn and Jülich radars. Ways to correct for these effects are introduced and new ways to calculate the empirical error are discussed. The change from considering a two dimensional ppi scan to real three dimensional overlapping cross sections could reduce negative influences to calculating the empirical error drastically, but will not be able to produce a two dimensional error field accompanying the ppi data for a specific elevation angle.
