Description(s):Abstract: Subsurface heterogeneity properties are crucial part in hydrological modeling. It is very important to understand flow and transport processes in soil and sediment for correct explanation and valuable information about the nature of porous media. Such information may provide better understanding of structural and hydraulic nature of porous media and fluid systems. The sub-project A3, “Characterization of effective hydraulic properties of unsaturated soils at cm to m scale using electrical spectroscopic and tomographic non-invasive methods” is currently investigated the electrical-hydraulic relationships. A3 is a part of the project SonderForschungsBereich, TransRegio (SFB/TR32) “Patterns in soil-vegetation-atmosphere system: monitoring, modeling, and data assimilation” of the Deutsche ForschungsGemeinschaft (DFG). The general aim of this project is to explore information content of the anisotropy of the effective spectral electrical properties for the characterization of (i) sub-scale sedimentological structures and (ii) preferential flow processes.
