| Description(s): | Abstract: In 1995 the Bundesanstalt für Geowissenschaften und Rohstoffe (BGR)published the first nationwide soil map on a scale of 1:1.000.000. It combined the maps of the old West German states with the one of the former GDR, including a standardized soil classification, same key layout and equal topographic base. In 1997 the topographic base got updated and the rest of the data got adapted to the nomeclature of the pedological mapping guidelines (4th edition) (KA4). Other informations about soil profiles and horizons were added and stored in a Relational database. All components, topographic base as well as technical data wer put in an ArcInfo-Geodatabase. In this file the components for the map as coverage and as shape files are in the folder data. The folder research includes a document BUEK1000_Kurzlegende.doc, with informations about the dominant soil types and parent material according to the Revised FAO Legend (1990). In the printed version, this information is given next to the map. In BUEK1000_Langlegende.doc a detailed key with informations e.g. about soil type, moisture and depth. | |
