Description(s):Abstract: In project B8, the scientific goal is to characterize pore structure and soil hydraulic properties of variably saturated soils by means of jointly inverting nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and spectral induced polarization (SIP) data. In phase three, NMR and SIP are to be applied to the TR32 test sites to gain field data and to invert them jointly in order to develop a non-invasive method allowing for direct characterization of two-phase soil hydraulic properties and pore space geometry. For the field work, an electrode rod has been developed and built for SIP measurements, and three pF-meters for measuring soil suction data in boreholes have been purchased. Additionally, a NMR borehole tool developed by project B7 will be provided.
