| Description: | Abstract: The soil map of the Netherlands 1:50 000 gives information on important characteristics of the soil profile up to a depth of 1,20 m. A countrywide soil map of the Netherlands is avaialable since 1986 and the digital version is available since 1999. Soil data is important especially for the state government, provincial government and water associations when planing and evaluating policy intentions, in future-orientated research and planing of land use, soil protection, environmental management, water management and nature conservation. Two of the files (grondwatertrappen (Gt)) contain information on the average highest and average lowest groundwater level. The data has been collected between 1958 and 1999. During this period the categorization of the groundwater table data has been adapted two times. Because of this the recent maps contain more specific information on changes in the groundwater level. |
